Synplicity to Demonstrate High-Performance Capabilities of Its Physical Synthesis Tool for FPGAs
Synplicity to Participate in Programmable World 2002 and Co-Host NetSeminar with Xilinx
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 2002--
Synplicity, Inc. (Nasdaq: SYNP - news), a leading supplier of software
for the design and verification of semiconductors, today announced it
will demonstrate the performance of its Amplify® Physical
Optimizer(TM) software at two events -- Programmable World 2002 on
April 17, 2002 and at a Synplicity sponsored NetSeminar on April 25,
2002. Programmable World 2002 is a collaborative industry event with
IBM, Wind River Systems, Xilinx and other industry-leading companies.
At the event, Synplicity will describe how its Amplify Physical
Optimizer software, the industry's first physical synthesis tool for
FPGAs, can be used to control and optimize delay to take maximum
advantage of the advanced features in the Xilinx Virtex-II Pro(TM)
family. At its NetSeminar, Synplicity and Xilinx will show how
designers can increase the performance of Xilinx FPGAs by using
Synplicity's Amplify software.
"Customers want to take complete advantage of the performance and
complexity offered by the next-generation FPGAs now being introduced,"
said Andy Haines, vice president of marketing for Synplicity. "Using
the Amplify Physical Optimizer software, we believe they can quickly
and easily achieve the highest performance possible from these highly
integrated devices. We are pleased to show the capabilities of our
software at the Programmable World 2002 forum with industry leaders
such as Wind River, IBM and Xilinx, and at our own Web-based seminar."
Rich Sevcik, senior vice president of FPGA products at Xilinx,
Inc., added, "The Programmable World 2002 event and our co-hosted
NetSeminar with Synplicity will provide our joint customers with a
forum to discover leading edge technologies such as the Amplify
software that can help them maximize the performance of their FPGAs.
Many of our customers have already achieved excellent results using
the Amplify product and we look forward to showcasing its capabilities
for our Virtex®, Virtex-II(TM) and Virtex-II Pro(TM) devices."
Programmable World 2002
At the Programmable World event, engineers will receive in-depth
technical training on the multi-faceted technologies revolutionizing
electronic systems design. Attendees will hear from industry
visionaries shaping the new era of systems design. For complete
program information and to register for the event, visit

Scheduled for April 17, 2002, Synplicity's presentation can be
viewed simultaneously in Austin, Texas; Atlanta; Baltimore; Boston;
Chicago; Dallas; Long Island, N.Y.; Montreal; Ottawa; Paris; Phoenix;
Portland, Ore.; Raleigh, N.C.; San Diego; San Jose, Calif.; Seattle;
Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and Toronto. More than 8,000 system architects
and design engineers are expected to participate in this free event.
Automated Physical Synthesis for Xilinx FPGAs NetSeminar
Additionally, Synplicity and Xilinx will participate in a
NetSeminar on Thursday, April 25, 2002 titled, "Automated Physical
Synthesis for Xilinx FPGAs." The two companies will show designers how
to maximize the performance of their high-density Xilinx FPGA designs
using Synplicity's Amplify Physical Optimizer software. Attendees will
learn how Synplicity's FPGA physical synthesis solution performs
simultaneous placement and logic optimization for the Xilinx Virtex
devices, including the new Virtex-II Pro series. Attendees will also
see Synplicity's recently announced, completely automated second
generation physical synthesis flow using its TOPS(TM) (Total
Optimization Physical Synthesis(TM)) technology, developed first for
Xilinx FPGAs.
The Synplicity and Xilinx NetSeminar will be held from 6:30 - 7:30
a.m. PDT and from 11:00 - 12:00 p.m. PDT on April 25, 2002. To
register for the event, visit

The Amplify Physical Optimizer software is the industry's only
physical synthesis tool for FPGAs. The Amplify software improves
circuit performance and timing closure and accelerates productivity by
performing simultaneous placement and logic optimization during the
synthesis process. The software was created specifically for designers
who need high performance from high-density Altera and Xilinx devices.
